      Lorenzo Sonego si ferma al secondo turno del torneo Masters 1000 di Monte Carlo.Il 25enne torinese, n.28 ATP (best ranking dopo la conquista del secondo titolo ATP al “Sardegna Open” di Cagliari), è stato superato dal tedesco Alexander “Sascha” Zverev, n.6 ATP e quinta testa di serie con un doppio 63 in 1 ora e 39 minuti di partita.
      Primo set: Sonego cedeva la battuta nel quarto gioco e poi sull’1 a 3 mancava due palle del controbreak.Sul 2 a 4 l’azzurro metteva a segno il controbreak, ma nel game successivo perdeva nuovamente la battuta con il tedesco che nel gioco seguente, teneva ai vantaggi il servizio, ma senza annullare palle break vincendo la frazione per 6 a 3.
      Secondo set: Lorenzo dopo aver perso la battuta in apertura di parziale piazzava il controbreak nel gioco successivo.Sonego però dal 3 a 2 in suo favore, senza break, perdeva 4 game consecutivi e due turni di battuta e poi e anche la partita per 6 a 3.

      Niente da fare per Marco Cecchinato, n.92 ATP, che dopo essersi aggiudicato in due set la sfida tra qualificati contro il tedesco Domink Koepfer, n.56 del ranking, è stato sconfitto dal belga David Goffin, n.15 del ranking e 11 del seeding per 64 60.Da segnalare che nel primo parziale Marco dopo aver perso il servizio nel terzo gioco (a 15), sul 4 a 5 e servizio Goffin ha mancato due palle per il controbreak prima di perdere sette game consecutivi e anche la partita per 6-4 6-0.
      Una sorte capitata a molti, quasi a tutti, tocca ancora a Federico Delbonis. Rafael Nadal, il dominatore della terra battuta è tornato e lo dimostra con un 6-1 6-2 perentorio nel Principato. L’11 volte campione di Monte Carlo vince la quinta partita su altrettanti confronti con l’argentino che non possiede le armi per opporsi al mancino di Manacor.

      Nessun problema per Fabio Fognini, n.18 ATP e 15esima testa di serie, nel secondo turno del torneo di Monte Carlo.L’azzurro ha sconfitto l’australiano Jordan Thompson, n.63 del ranking con un doppio 63 in 1 ora e 22 minuti di partitaAgli ottavi di finale l’azzurro affronterà Krajinovic o Londero.
      Nel primo set Fabio si portava in un attimo avanti per 4 a 0. Sul 5 a 2 però l’azzurro cedeva a 30 il turno di battuta ma arrivava l’immediata reazione di Fognini che toglieva a 30 la battuta a Thompson conquistando la frazione per 6 a 3.
      Nel secondo set un break chirurgico di Fognini nel quarto game (a 0), chiudeva i conti, portando a casa set e match per 6 a 3, senza concedere nulla a Jordan sul proprio servizio.

      Niente da fare per Salvatore Caruso nel secondo turno del torneo di Monte Carlo.Il 28enne di Avola n.89 ATP, promosso dalle qualificazioni, è stato sconfitto per 63 62, in un’ora e otto minuti, dal russo Andrey Rublev, n.8 del ranking e 6 del seeding.
      Nel primo set Caruso sotto per 1 a 4, break del russo nel secondo gioco, annullava nel sesto game altre due palle per il doppio break ma non era mai pericolso in risposta con Rublev che chiudeva agevolmente il parziale per 6 a 3.
      Nel secondo set nel secondo game Caruso non è riuscito a sfruttare le prime due palle-break concesse nell’incontro da un russo piuttostoe nervoso. Rublev ha alzato l’intensità dei suoi colpi e con un parziale di cinque giochi di fila è volato sul 5-1.       Jannik Sinner : “Ricordo la prima volta che ci siamo allenati insieme io e Djokovic Non mi ricordo che anno era, ma ero decisamente più piccolo tanto che giocavamo in due. Poi a un certo punto ho capito che Riccarso [Piatti] era stato anche il suo allenatore, mi raccontò un po’ la storia.[Contro Djokovic] avrò certamente una strategia per far funzionare il mio piano di gioco. Ovviamente so chi c’è dall’altra parte della rete. Per me non sarà una partita facile perché ho visto Djokovic tante volte in televisione ma non lo conosco bene. Quando sei in campo contro qualcuno, è diverso.E’ un ottimo test per vedere dove sono e soprattutto dove posso migliorare. So dove posso fare progressi, ma questo tipo di partita può darmi molto. Cercherò di giocare con la giusta mentalità e vediamo che succederà”.
      Fabio Fognini : “Ho dei ricordi bellissimi qui. Ricordi indimenticabili. Sono contento della prestazione di oggi. La scorsa settimana ho giocato male, non mi sentivo carico.Mentalmente ero proprio scarico. Invece questa settimana appena sono arrivato a Monte Carlo ho ritrovato delle belle sensazioniLa cosa principale da quando sono arrivato qui è che sono positivo. Ho un atteggiamento positivo qui e cercherò di mantenerlo.Il risultato è la conseguenza di come ti applichi.
      Matteo Berrettini : “È stata una partita complicata lui ha giocato bene, è stato intelligente e ha fatto le cose giuste al momento giusto, niente da dire. La condizione al momento non è perfetta, ma ci arriveremo, non sto giocando per prepararmi all’erba o al cemento, ci sono ancora tanti tornei sulla terra e penso di poter crescere. Penso di avere il tennis per stare a questo livello, e di averlo dimostrato. Certo non posso pensare di essere costantemente al massimo e nemmeno penso sia giusto chiedermelo. Intanto i presupposti per fare bene ci sono, fisicamente mi sono sentito bene, dall’infortunio ho recuperato“.
      Lorenzo Sonego : “Fisicamente sto bene, sono arrivato ieri e sono riuscito ad allenarmi poco per la pioggia ma comunque mi sento bene ed è questo fondamentale. Qui la terra è è più veloce rispetto a Cagliari, poi oggi si giocava su un campo molto stretto. All’inizio ho fatto un po’ di fatica ad adattarmi, poi col passare del tempo è andata sempre meglio. Oggi il mio avversario ha iniziato a lamentarsi dalla fine del primo set, diceva che facevo dei versi in ritardo, non so perché, e si lamentava con l’arbitro. Ha cercato di condizionarmi e questo non è piacevole perché io non faccio mai nulla per dare fastidio all’avversario. Sono soddisfatto della prestazione di oggi.
      Dopo essersi imposto 6-7/7-6/6-3 su Lucas Catarina al primo turno del Masters 1000 di Monte Carlo, Salvatore Caruso ha analizzato così la propria gara, suddivisa in due atti a causa dell’interruzione della pioggia: “E’ stata una partita durissima, quest’oggi in condizioni molto diverse da quelle pesanti della giornata di ieri. Sono contento di aver portato a casa la vittoria, perchè chiaramente per come si erano messe le cose non era né scontato, né semplice ribaltare il risultato e accedere al secondo turno.
