      Da Tenerife: Carreno Busta torna al trionfo

      A Tenerife rispettati tutti i pronostici: Pablo Carreno Busta è il primo campione spagnolo della storia del torneo. Il tennista di Gijon ha conquistato il titolo battendo Alejandro Moro Canas con un netto 6-3 6-2. Il primo dei due eventi ATP Challenger 75 organizzati da MEF Tennis Events, con il patrocinio di Turismo de Tenerife, si è chiuso così con una finale storica per l’isola: per la prima volta, due spagnoli si sono affrontati nell’atto conclusivo della competizione, davanti a 1000 spettatori sul Centrale dell’Abama Tennis Academy. Alla cerimonia di premiazione hanno preso parte Lope Afonso, vicepresidente del Cabildo di Tenerife e consigliere per il Turismo, Dimple Melwani, CEO per il Turismo di Tenerife, Oliver Afonso, assessore allo Sport di Guía de Isora, e Miguel Díaz Román, presidente della Real Federación Española de Tenis. Lo spettacolo però non è finito, già oggi sono infatti iniziate le qualificazioni del Tenerife Challenger 2. Domani al via anche le sfide del main draw, che culminerà con la finale di domenica 16 febbraio.
      Bagno di folla per il trionfo di Carreno Busta – “Era da tanto tempo che non vivevo sulla pelle la tensione di una finale. Me la sono goduta, anche grazie alla presenza dei miei genitori. È stata una settimana magnifica, in cui il tennis e il fisico mi hanno dato buone sensazioni. Tutto questo è molto importante”. A quasi tre anni dal trionfo nel Masters 1000 di Montreal, Pablo Carreno Busta torna a vincere un titolo. Subito dopo aver concretizzato il match point, il tennista di Gijon si è fermato ad assaporare l’ovazione del Centrale dell’Abama Tennis Academy. Tantissimi i ragazzi con cui si è poi intrattenuto per foto e autografi. L’atto conclusivo contro Alejandro Moro Canas è andato in un’unica direzione: quella che ha premiato l’ex numero 10 del mondo con il punteggio di 6-3 6-2. “Nel corso della settimana la mia confidenza è cresciuta gradualmente: oggi mi sono comportato molto bene in campo. Spero di poter continuare così – ribadisce Carreno Busta -. Sono felice che i miei genitori abbiano vissuto questa settimana con me perché mi hanno aiutato da piccolo e mi sono stati vicini anche dopo l’operazione al gomito, lo stesso ha fatto mia moglie”. Con questa vittoria Carreno Busta salirà alla 133ª posizione mondiale e già da domani avrà l’opportunità di ottenere altri punti nel Tenerife Challenger 2, dove esordirà martedì 11 febbraio contro il cinese Jie Cui: “Qui sull’isola mi sto trovando benissimo. Le condizioni atmosferiche sono fantastiche e il torneo è perfetto a livello organizzativo. Adesso spero di ripetermi la prossima settimana, anche se non sarà facile. Mentalmente non avrò il tempo di staccare che dovrò giocare un nuovo match di primo turno. Cosa farò più avanti nella stagione? Mi dividerò tra tornei ATP e Challenger per riprendere la classifica. A marzo potrei andare negli Stati Uniti d’America per Indian Wells e Miami”.
      Turismo e sport, binomio vincente per Tenerife – Dal giorno zero alla finale, il Turismo di Tenerife e il Comune di Guía de Isora hanno giocato un ruolo centrale nella realizzazione della manifestazione. “Accogliamo sempre più eventi sportivi di livello nazionale e internazionale – ha dichiarato Dimple Melwani, CEO del Turismo di Tenerife -. MEF Tennis Events è un punto di riferimento nell’organizzazione dei tornei professionistici che si giocano all’Abama Tennis Academy. Tenerife offre un clima straordinario tutto l’anno e siamo felici di continuare la collaborazione con Marcello Marchesini, presidente di MEF, per i tornei che organizzerà in Italia tra giugno e ottobre, perché si tratta di un’ulteriore occasione per promuovere il nostro turismo”. Un concetto ribadito anche da Lope Afonso, vicepresidente del Cabildo di Tenerife e consigliere per il Turismo: “Essere al centro del tennis internazionale è una grande opportunità per Tenerife. Questo torneo è ormai un appuntamento consolidato e ci permette di associare la nostra destinazione ai valori positivi di uno sport meraviglioso, in un contesto d’eccellenza come l’Abama Tennis Academy”. Oltre alla competizione, i protagonisti del torneo hanno potuto scoprire le bellezze dell’isola e le attrazioni di Guía de Isora. “È stato un orgoglio vedere due spagnoli in finale in un evento di questa importanza – ha sottolineato Oliver Afonso, assessore allo Sport di Guía de Isora – Siamo molto soddisfatti del successo della manifestazione, che contribuisce a posizionare Guía de Isora come punto di riferimento per il turismo sportivo. Durante il loro soggiorno, i giocatori hanno avuto modo di apprezzare i nostri paesaggi e la nostra gastronomia, una vetrina perfetta per mostrare le infinite possibilità offerte da Tenerife”.

      Da Tenerife: Finale tutta spagnola. Carreno Busta “Un anno fa non ero sicuro di poter tornare”

      Per la prima nella sua storia il Tenerife Challenger avrà un campione spagnolo. All’Abama Tennis Academy sarà finale a tinte iberiche tra Pablo Carreno Busta e Alejandro Moro Canas che, battendo Pol Martin Tiffon e Henrique Rocha, si sono guadagnati un posto nell’atto conclusivo del primo dei due tornei ATP Challenger organizzati a MEF Tennis Events con il patrocinio del Turismo di Tenerife. Dopo averla spuntata al set decisivo nel quarto di finale contro Gaubas, Pablo Carreno Busta è riuscito a dominare per 6-4 6-0 la semifinale contro Pol Martin Tiffon. Sono servite invece 2 ore e 21 minuti ad Alejandro Moro Canas per avere ragione del portoghese Henrique Rocha, quest’ultimo ha forzato la sfida al terzo set ma si è ritrovato privo di energie nelle fasi finali della contesa conclusasi con lo score di 6-2 6-7(6) 6-0. In mattinata è invece andata in scena la finale di doppio, che ha incoronato Daniel Rincon e Inigo Cervantes. I due si sono aggiudicati il derby contro Nicolas Alvarez Varona e Inaki Montes-De La Torre per 6-2 6-4. Domenica 9 febbraio la finale si giocherà alle ore 11.30 e per l’occasione sarà presente il presidente della federtennis spagnola Miguel Diaz Roman, che non vuole perdersi la sfida tra i due atleti di casa.
      Carreno Busta: “Tornare in finale mi emoziona” – A quasi tre anni dal titolo nel Masters 1000 di Montreal, Pablo Carreno Busta torna a disputare una finale. Dopo aver rischiato nel quarto di finale contro Vilius Gaubas, l’ex numero 10 del mondo ha rispettato i pronostici contro Pol Martin Tiffon (6-4 6-0) e si è regalato un posto nell’atto decisivo del Tenerife Challenger. “Prima della partita abbiamo studiato Pol e lo avevo già visto giocare anche nella giornata di ieri. Sono sceso in campo sapendo di dover iniziare meglio di quanto avevo fatto contro Gaubas – le parole della medaglia di bronzo di Tokyo 2020 -. Brekkare subito mi ha aiutato e poi nel secondo set ho giocato ancora meglio”. Questa settimana numero 149 del mondo, Pablo già dal suo arrivo sull’isola aveva evidenziato l’importanza di mettere partite nelle gambe e mettere punti in cassaforte, specialmente ora che il suo ranking protetto è scaduto. L’emozione di poter tornare a disputare una finale non manca, specialmente perché la giocherà sotto gli occhi dei genitori, ma non manca un po’ di cautela per il futuro: “Ovviamente non parliamo di un Masters 1000 come Montreal, ma qui a Tenerife ho trovato un tabellone di ottimo livello. Sono emozionato perché un anno fa non sapevo se sarei stato di nuovo in grado di vincere queste partite. Obiettivi? Vincere domani è il mio unico pensiero. Al momento non valgo la finale di un Masters 1000, però sono contento di questi risultati e mi sto divertendo. Ci sono state settimane in cui non trovavo il mio miglior tennis e invece qui ci sono riuscito”. A prescindere dal risultato della finale contro Alejandro Moro Canas, il tennista di Gijon sarà protagonista anche del Tenerife Challenger 2, che inizierà domani con le qualificazioni.
      Moro Canas: “Sarà una finale speciale” – Per la prima volta Alejandro Moro Canas potrà giocarsi il titolo in quello, che con il tempo, è diventato uno dei suoi tornei preferiti. Il tennista madrileno, classe 2000, ha sconfitto Henrique Rocha con il punteggio di 6-2 6-7(6) 6-0. “Sono molto contento di essere in finale a Tenerife, la terza a livello Challenger della mia carriera – ha detto il tennista iberico, numero 163 del mondo -. Henrique è un avversario molto ostico, quando gli concedi spazio sa approfittarne rapidamente. Ho sfruttato bene le mie opportunità, sono stato superiore nel terzo set e ho vinto la partita”. Per la prima volta in finale contro un connazionale, Moro Canas non vede l’ora di affrontare Carreno Busta davanti a un Centrale che farà record di presenze: “Conosco Pablo come lo conosciamo tutti, sarà una sfida molto speciale. Questo torneo è la conferma che il tennis spagnolo sta vivendo un grandissimo momento”.
