STANFORD – La famosa Stanford University ha deciso d’interrompere il programma sportivo di 11 discipline al termine della stagione 2020-’21, fra queste anche la pallavolo maschile nonostante i titoli vinti nel 1997 e nel 2010 ed i numerosi giocatori di alto livello sfornati nel corso degli anni (nella prossima superlega ci saranno Kawika Shoji e James Shaw).

Today’s been a tough day. I am saddened and downright angry with Stanford’s decision to cut 11 varsity sports, including Men’s volleyball (@therealstanfordmvb), a program rich with tradition and a program that has given so much to my family and I. I simply cannot imagine my life without the Stanford Men’s Volleyball Program, and I am devastated for the current and future athletes who have dreamed of playing volleyball at Stanford but won’t get the chance to finish or start their journey with Stanford Men’s Volleyball due to this decision. As an alumni, I am here to listen to your voices and help in any way possible moving forward. To my coaches and staff who pushed me past what I thought was possible and who encouraged me to go after my dreams of becoming an Olympian, I am forever grateful. I cannot begin to express how sorry I am about this decision. I, along with all the Stanford Men’s Volleyball alumni, are ready to fight. With everything that I have, I am ready to fight. Volleyball community, family, and friends, I ask you join me in this fight by spreading the word and awareness of our current situation. While we currently are unsure on what we can do, I will be posting updates every step of the way to help save this program.
